1st Annual Community Day, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City, New York

I originated, organized, and curated the first annual (now in its 6th year) P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center Community Day, Come One!… Come All!… to the Outdoor Galleries which brought 2,000 visitors and 50 contemporary artists together for free hands-on contemporary art-making workshops and performances, structured in a circus-sideshow format. Performances included a salsa band, puppeteers, acrobats, break-dancers, stilt-walkers, a marching band, and a bearded lady. Local restaurants served food highlighting the diversity of the Long Island City community. Inside the museum, visitors toured the galleries with family guides, bought Family Day T-shirts, and picked up brochures on continuing education and art education programs in New York schools and art centers.
