Hello, My 2 wonderful amazing roommates have summer residencies & I don't wanna live alone! We are three queer artists who have lived in NYC for a while and would love to sublet 2 of our rooms with a respectful, kind, honest, employed and queer friendly housemate with no pets. One sublet is open for both July & August, $750 per month (utilities included). The other sublet is open for just July, $700 per month (utilities included). Deposit is not required, but full amount is due when signing the written sublease agreement to secure your amazing summer room.
Our lovely home is located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. We have two floors of a beautiful old brownstone with lots of charterer, including roof access, 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom, hard wood floors and 4 decorative fire places. We are a few blocks from the A train (express) and LIRR at Nostrand, and a few more blocks from the G train (not express...) and surrounded by all types of groceries, produce markets, Bargain Hunters, smoothie/juice shops, coffee shops, a few bars, and so many bodegas you will go crossed eyed! Neighbors are extremely friendly and trustworthy. The street is pretty busy but not loud, and well-lit. We have lived in this apartment for over a year and think it is great.
Here is what we are looking for in a subletter:
- Queer or queer ally
- Ability to pay entire balance of rent up front ($1500 for sublet #1 ; $700 for sublet #2)
- openly communicative about house stuff (cleaning, noise level, etc)
- down with Brooklyn
- extra points if you have lived in Bed-Stuy or are excited about subletting in Bed-Stuy
- good humored
- trustworthy
- open to a once a month house cleaning session with other roommates (usually 3 hours)
- no smoking in the house
- no drugs
We cannot accommodate any pets unfortunately :(
The room #1 ($750 per month, for July/August) has a lofted bed for storage purposes and a ton of space (12 feet by 20 feet, 12 foot ceilings). The mattress is currently under the loft, with storage on top. It is definitely a live/work space - ideal for artists. Small dresser, closet under the loft, and desk for writing near the window. A/C to be used with some discretion, but definitely helps in emergency heat situations. Room has a really effective ceiling fan and stays pretty cool because of high ceilings.
The room #2 ($700 for July) is 12 x 16 feet, 12 foot ceilings. It has 2 large south facing window looking out over the back yard (not accessible to us) and gets lots of natural light. There is a queen size bed and a stainless steal work table (25x50" great for computing or small art projects). There are a handful of happy low-maintenance plants (if you could water them once or twice during the month that would be great).
The roommate (Connie) that will be sticking around for the summer is an artist, producer & life coach. Connie works from home, likes to laugh & is a good listener and an even better talker. Some of the pans (clearly marked) are vegan designated. Connie is also vegan even though there is no clearly marked tag. (Meat is totally okay in the house, just not in the vegan pans.) White queer actively working on my abilities to be a PoC ally (don't worry, that doesn't mean processing with you). Late sleeper & night owl. Loves doilies. Early 30s.
This is an amazing space & an amazing time to be in Brooklyn.
